Community, creativity, and choice are at the heart of Judson Services’ vibrant campuses and holistic programs.

Since 1906, Judson Services has been serving Northeast Ohio under a singular mission: to bring the community to life. With three buzzing continuing care retirement communities offering a range of wellness services and programs, the not-for-profit organization strives to support older adults in the ways they need it most. “Knowing how we can best support older adults and provide them with great opportunities to engage and interact is all a part of what we do,” says Kendra Urdzik, president and CEO. From independent and assisted living to memory care and at-home services, Judson’s reach in and beyond its campuses encourages older adults to partner with care providers and associates. This collaborative approach has led to innovations in programs, broadened the community’s cultural diversity, and earned global recognition.

“We’re the experts in the service side, and our residents are the experts in life,” says Dianna Huckestein, vice president of sales and marketing. “We create programs that support them and come alongside them so they can dream, explore, and be passionate about life.”

Active, Engaged, Recharged

Every Judson community effuses its own character, yet each is bound by a trademark emphasis on individuality and care. Lifelong learning opportunities through community partnerships, artistic resources in on-campus studios, and recreational activities at wellness centers encourage active, vibrant lifestyles as well as the exploration of new interests. “Our residents are the driver,” says Huckestein. “They come from different backgrounds and have diverse interests that help us develop new programs.” Beyond social engagement, Judson’s full continuum of care ensures 24/7 access to providers whose focus on tailoring services means community members receive personalized support when, where, and how they need it.

Judson’s lauded reputation draws generations of families whose commitment to maintaining the communities’ familial atmosphere continues to attract residents. Whether transitioning from the Judson at Home service (where older adults living at home participate in on campus events and activities) or moving in from another state, new residents are engaged from day one. Associates and resident ambassadors partner together to welcome community members, familiarize them with the campus, and encourage a smooth transition to their new home. For residents, Judson offers an exciting opportunity to reclaim independence and enjoy life to the fullest. For families, Judson offers peace of mind. “We had a couple move in, and the wife needed memory care support,” Urdzik recalls. “They lived at home through COVID, and their children realized they couldn’t keep up with their parents’ physical needs. When they moved in, we were able to support her needs and engage his artistic side in our expressive arts center. He would be in the art room for hours knowing his wife was being taken care of.”
Renewed joy is a sentiment felt by the countless families whose lives have been changed through Judson’s compassionate, personal approach. “Age well, live well, be well— that’s our residents,” Urdzik concludes. “It epitomizes our communities, associates, and the families so engaged here every day.”
